Default Recovering FireFox Bookmarks or Favourites

Firefox keeps bookmark backups on file for quite some time, but they're kept in a hidden folder, so they're a little hard to access when you need them. But here's how you do it. Go to Start, Control Panel and select the Folder Options choice. (You will need to be in the classic Control Panel view to do this). Once there, choose the View tab and under the section of "Hidden files and folders," hit "Show hidden files and folders." Click OK when you're done.

Next, open up your Firefox browser and go to Bookmarks, Manage Bookmarks. Then go to File, Import and under the section of "Import Bookmarks From," choose the option of From File. You will then be prompted to find the location of the backup files, which are usually kept in this area: C:\Documents and Settings\NAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\ Profiles. (You can start to find that by double clicking on the My Computer icon on your desktop and choosing the C: drive).

Note: The NAME part of that location is your own Windows account name, so make sure you take note of that before you proceed.

Once you get to that spot, you will see a folder with a sort of weird name. That is your Firefox profile. Open that and you will then find your backups in the Bookmarkbackups folder. If you don't find the bookmarks you were looking for, Firefox may have already gotten rid of them (if the deadline time has passed). In that case, you may want to look into getting a recovery tool to get them back. You can find one by doing a search for them with your favorite search engine.

If you do have something in your folder, look for the file name of "Bookmarks.html" in the list. Your lost bookmarks should be there, but again, there are no promises. It just depends on how long it's been since you've lost your bookmarks, etc. That's just how Firefox works.

Thank you for this useful information.
I was wondering where are those bookmarks stored.
