To put it simply, God of War 2 is one of the best games of all time.
For those of you who have played God of War, you'll know what to expect of the sequel and you wont be disappointed. Kratos is back as brutal and bad as ever. You begin the game as the God of War ( having stolen that particular title from Ares in the first game). Kratos is still a tortured soul, and finds catharsis by leading his city of Spartans on a constant war path, destroying city after city and thus angering the rest of the God's on Olympus. Zeus feels that Kratos must be stopped and betrays Kratos in a number of ways that eventually lead to Kratos again becoming a mortal. The rest of the game is spent trying to reach the three Fates ( mythological creatures who control time and destiny) to reverse this treachery and defeat Zeus.
The game-play in God of War II is solid and fun. As before you must upgrade the weapons and magics you acquire throughout the game to get bigger and better combos, and as before it's completely worth the effort. The attacks are as fun as always and as easy to perform. The style of Kratos's attacks are brilliantly brutal and over the top. The finishing moves are not only as bloody and satisfying as before, but more so. The puzzles are hard, but not too hard, and add a great deal to the gameplay, becoming one of my favorite features. And let's not forget the awesome boss fights, some better than others, but none too hard to figure out, and all ending in great and gruesome fashions. Honestly I cant sing the praises of this game loud enough. The game-play is great, the cut-scenes are awesome and the plot is solid (some might say weak, but to me it's a plausible Mythological plot line, and therefore fine).
I recommend this as one of the best games of all time. It's truly a great play.
